Louvre
Museum
Former home of the French royalty, is at the present one
of the greatest museums of the world, with its collections
distributed among the departments of Orient antiques,
Egyptian antiques, Greek, Roman and Etruscan antiques,
Paintings, Sculptures and Objects of Art from the Middle
Age to 1850.
This collection of art was, until the revolution, of exclusive
use of the Court, until the idea of a museum caught between
the revolutionaries, who inaugurated it in 1793. At the
present it has a catalogue of more than 300,000 pieces.
