Textile
Museum of Lyon
Successor of the Museum of Art and Industry created in
1864 by the Industry and Commerce Chamber of Lyon, the
Textile Museum settled in 1946 within the frame of the
18th century mansion of Villeroy. The Museum is structured
around the history of the silk manufacture of Lyon from
the Renaissance to the present. It also illustrates the
most important stages of textile history: Persian carpets,
Copt tapestries, Spain, Sicily, Italy, Middle and Far
East silk works, of Sicily, of Italy, of the Middle East,
the Far East. The suits hall evokes the fashion in France,
without forgetting the embroidering and the embroider.
