It
is difficult to equal the experience of arriving at a
small French town with the hope to find a bed where to
rest and discover the streets full of people, flags and
tapes, a band playing in the central seat, all celebrating
the patron saint day of the town. In addition to the Day
of the Bastille (14 July) and the Virgin Mary Ascension
(15 August), the rural southern regions and Britain have
traditional festivals, as well as a complete calendar
of cinema and music festivals.
One of the festivals that are worth the visit is the InterCelta
made in Lorient (Bretagne) in August also the annual meeting
of gypsies that becomes in Them-Stes-Maries-of-the-Mer,
in Camargue is recommendable. The celebrations of the
Bastille Day, the Virgin Mary Ascension and the Celebration
of St John (24 June) are characteristic by their bonfires
and fireworks exhibition.
