The deepening of the process of internationalization of Nankai University directly increased the level of globalization of its students. Nankai encourages the students to experience international environments. For this reason, Nankai University has launched several cooperation initiatives and international exchanges at all levels, fully implemented Nankai’sStudents Worldwide Flowproject, and ultimately expanded its academic horizons.
Nankai University offers several opportunities to study abroad to the students, such as theHundred Talent Programof CAS, Joint Cultivation programs, N+N Programs, Government and Organizational scholarships, university-level or college-level exchanges, and overseas summer and winter camps.
N+N Programs: Nankai University has established a3+2 Joint Cultivation Programwith Temple University in the United States, a1+1 Joint Cultivation Programwith the the University of Glasgow, a2+2 Joint Cultivation Programwith the University of Edinburgh, a3+2 and 3+X Joint Cultivation Programswith the University of Utah, a3+1+1 Joint Cultivation Programwith the University of Alberta, and many others.

Canada’s Mitacs Project;
Government scholarship programs;
Sumitomo Corporation Scholarship;

Among these programs, theDistinguished International Students Programhelped more than 100 students to study in overseas universities and colleges for one semester or one academic year.
Nankai University has exchange agreements with many universities, including University of Oxford (UK), University of Cambridge (UK), University of California Berkeley (USA), and the University of California at Los Angeles (USA), and Ritsumeikan University (Japan).
Nankai University has different kinds of overseas exchange activities and projects, including the Overseas Interschool Exchange Program, summer and winter camps, and other activities. At the end of the interchanges, the credits are recognized by the partner university as a part of the requirements needed for the graduation.
Also, after participating in the overseas summer or winter camp projects, the students can use the credits to apply to foreign universities or colleges.
The international exchanges of Nankai University are increasing rapidly. The registered number of students has been growing steadily year after year, from 152 students in 2008, 376 students in 2009, 438 students in 2010, 524 students in 2011, 742 students in 2012, 772 students in 2013, 810 students in 2014, to 1120 in 2016.
Nankai University will continue to develop its strengths, make use of its existing cooperative resources, and provide the students with new opportunities to study abroad. Nankai’s objective is to increase the number of undergraduate students with more than six months experience abroad by 5 percent in the next years.
